Psycho-Social Support Through ARA Project
Since 2013, Kurdistan Save the Children (KSC) has been supporting children with cancer by coordinating and facilitating communication between families, children, and health centers throughout their treatment in the Kurdistan Region, including Hiwa Hospital in Slemani, Nanakaly Hospital in Erbil, and Zhin Center in Duhok. KSC also helps reintegrate children into their normal routines after treatment. In addition, we provide social and psychological support through counselors and social workers for both children and parents, along with financial assistance in hospital wards when necessary.
The ARA project operates with the incentive that “Childhood Cancer Can Be Cured”. All activities, both inside and outside hospitals, are aligned with this initiative, focusing on the following objectives:
1. Providing social and psychological support to children with cancer and their families.
2. Raising public awareness about childhood cancer and promoting proper care for cancer-stricken children.
3. Enhancing early diagnosis of cancer to initiate treatment at the earliest possible stage.
4. Creating a supportive and suitable environment for children battling cancer.
